Get Involved
The future of rehabilitation will be built by people who choose to contribute.
Whether you are a clinician, researcher, student, innovator, donor, partner, or institution, there is a place for you in the MotusAcademy Foundation ecosystem.
- Connect, contribute, and grow.
Membership
MotusAcademy membership is designed as a structured pathway for individuals and organisations who want to stay close to the future of rehabilitation methods and technologies while contributing to a broader mission of access, capability, and responsible innovation. It connects clinicians, engineers, researchers, educators, students, institutions, industry leaders, and mission-aligned supporters through a professional community shaped by education, evidence, collaboration, and real-world impact.
The proposed membership structure combines open participation with progressive recognition. Individual membership begins with Student Member, Member, and Senior Member categories, creating a clear pathway for learners, professionals, and more established contributors. Beyond these core levels, MotusAcademy’s leadership and recognition structure includes ATLAS Council Members and Fellowship grades of Fellow, Senior Fellow, and Distinguished Fellow, reflecting sustained contribution, expertise, and service to the field. In this model, ATLAS Council Members are nominated and approved by Fellows, while Fellows are nominated and approved by the Board of Directors, ensuring that leadership and recognition remain merit-based and mission-aligned.
For institutions, strategic partners, and supporters, MotusAcademy also provides organisational pathways for engagement through institutional membership, partnership, collaboration, sponsorship, and participation in programmes and events. This allows both individuals and organisations to take part in a growing global community dedicated to advancing rehabilitation technology responsibly and inclusively.
- Value at every stage.
Membership Benefits
MotusAcademy members gain access to a mission-driven network built around education, insight, collaboration, and action. Membership is intended to provide meaningful value at every stage of professional development, from students entering the field to senior experts shaping its future.
Benefits include access to curated educational opportunities, webinars, workshops, member communications, selected knowledge resources, programme updates, and member pricing for events and activities. Members also gain opportunities to join working groups, contribute to initiatives, participate in committees, engage with peers across disciplines, and stay informed on emerging priorities in rehabilitation, robotics, assistive technologies, neurotechnology, and translational care.
As members progress through the MotusAcademy pathway, they also become eligible for additional forms of recognition, leadership, and contribution. Senior Members may be invited into more active advisory and committee roles. ATLAS Council Members serve as part of MotusAcademy’s faculty and standards leadership community. Fellows and Senior Fellows represent distinguished recognition for sustained impact, scholarship, service, and leadership across the field. This progression ensures that membership is not merely transactional, but developmental, participatory, and professionally meaningful.
- Leadership in action.
ATLAS Council
The ATLAS Council is MotusAcademy’s leadership platform for senior contributors, advisors, champions, and ecosystem builders who want to help shape the longer-term direction of the organisation and its strategic initiatives. ATLAS stands for Applied Technology Leadership & Standards, and it is designed as a modern, cross-disciplinary body that brings together leaders from healthcare, academia, engineering, technology, implementation science, health economics, and patient-centred practice.
The Council plays a practical and strategic role within MotusAcademy. Its mandate includes helping define competencies, contributing to practice guidelines, teaching flagship courses and ATLAS Studios, supporting standards-related activities, strengthening the quality and integrity of educational content, and mentoring the next generation of professionals in the field. In this way, ATLAS is not simply an honorary group; it is an active platform for stewardship, knowledge translation, and leadership in action.
Selection into the ATLAS Council is intended to reflect both excellence and contribution. It offers a pathway for experienced members who have demonstrated scholarship, implementation impact, teaching ability, interdisciplinary engagement, and commitment to MotusAcademy’s mission. As proposed in the membership structure, ATLAS Council Members are nominated and approved by Fellows, helping ensure that appointment to the Council reflects peer-recognised merit, credibility, and readiness for leadership.
- Where ideas turn into impact.
Events
Events are where ideas become relationships, and relationships become action. Motus Summit is envisioned as MotusAcademy’s flagship convening platform, bringing together leaders across rehabilitation, robotics, AI, research, care delivery, policy, industry, and ecosystem development. It is designed not merely as a conference, but as a mission-led gathering for dialogue, visibility, partnership development, skills transfer, and shared momentum around the future of rehabilitation.
The proposed summit format reflects MotusAcademy’s broader mission and structure. It is intended to include scientific and standards-focused sessions, hands-on skills and labs, and systems-level conversations around reimbursement, implementation, procurement, equity, and scale. It also creates a natural platform for ATLAS Studios, expert masterclasses, startup engagement, patient-centred dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration.
For members, Motus Summit represents one of the clearest expressions of the value of belonging to the MotusAcademy community. It creates opportunities to learn, network, present, collaborate, mentor, and contribute to the future direction of the field. For senior contributors, Fellows, and ATLAS Council Members, it also serves as an important platform for leadership, faculty engagement, standards development, and community building.
