ABOUT US

Rehabilitation for All, Powered by Knowledge, Technology, and Action

MotusAcademy and MotusAcademy Foundation

MotusAcademy serves as the global platform for rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation education, research visibility, standards, and collaborative innovation. Through international partnerships and shared learning, the organisation supports the advancement of rehabilitation innovation across healthcare, research, and community settings worldwide.

Within this broader ecosystem, MotusAcademy Foundation serves as the U.S.-based impact and philanthropic platform focused on rehabilitation access, practical implementation, and community-centered initiatives. Through programmes connected to South Dakota and rural health communities, the Foundation supports workforce development, Veteran rehabilitation, caregiver support, scholarships, and assistive technology access.

Together, MotusAcademy and MotusAcademy Foundation create a connected model that combines global collaboration with meaningful local impact — helping improve access to rehabilitation care, education, technology, and support for underserved communities.

About MotusAcademy

MotusAcademy is a global platform advancing rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation education, research visibility, and collaborative innovation across the rehabilitation ecosystem.

By connecting rehabilitation robotics, AI in rehabilitation, neurotechnology, translational care, and workforce development, MotusAcademy helps bring rehabilitation innovation closer to the people, healthcare systems, and communities that can benefit from it most.

The organisation brings together clinicians, researchers, engineers, educators, institutions, policymakers, industry leaders, and people living with disabilities to support knowledge exchange, practical implementation, and more accessible models of rehabilitation care worldwide.

Through initiatives in education, rehabilitation research, partnerships, ATLAS Council, JRMT, and ecosystem development, MotusAcademy supports a future where rehabilitation is more connected, inclusive, accessible, and human-centered.

Our Mission, Vision, and Values

Shape how we advance equitable, high-quality rehabilitation through innovation, collaboration, and action.

Our Mission

MotusAcademy Foundation is building a more connected, more capable, and more equitable rehabilitation ecosystem. We work at the intersection of healthcare, science, technology, and community to accelerate the responsible adoption of rehabilitation methods and technologies that can improve lives. Our mission is not only to inform, but to enable action. We support the translation of knowledge into practice, the development of people and institutions, and the creation of platforms that help rehabilitation professionals, researchers, innovators, and partners work together more effectively.

Our Vision

We believe the future of rehabilitation must be more accessible, more interdisciplinary, and more impact-driven. Too often, promising knowledge remains siloed, technologies remain underused, and access remains uneven across geography, income, infrastructure, and workforce capacity. Our vision is a world in which high-quality rehabilitation knowledge, tools, and opportunity are no longer limited to a few centres of excellence, but can reach clinicians, communities, and patients across diverse settings. Through education, research, convening, and strategic initiatives, we aim to help shape that future.

Our Values

  • Access with purpose — We believe innovation matters only when it can be translated into meaningful access for real people in real settings.
  • Evidence with integrity — We value rigorous thinking, responsible interpretation, and practical relevance. We support work that advances both knowledge and application.
  • Collaboration across disciplines — Progress in rehabilitation depends on clinicians, engineers, researchers, policymakers, partners, and communities working together rather than in isolation.
  • Innovation with responsibility — We support forward-looking technologies and ideas, while recognising that trust, ethics, safety, and usability are essential to lasting impact.
  • Global perspective, local relevance — We believe the strongest solutions are internationally informed, but adaptable to local systems, cultures, needs, and constraints.

MotusAcademy Co-Founders

MotusAcademy was founded by leaders who have helped shape the global field of rehabilitation technology through research, clinical translation, education, and ecosystem development. Together, they established MotusAcademy to broaden access to advanced rehabilitation technologies and to strengthen the bridge between innovation, evidence, and real-world impact.
