ABOUT US

Rehabilitation for All, Powered by Knowledge, Technology, and Action

Motus Academy and MotusAcademy Foundation

MotusAcademy serves as a global platform focused on rehabilitation methods, technologies, education, research visibility, and ecosystem collaboration. It brings together leaders across rehabilitation, robotics, neurotechnology, translational science, and healthcare innovation to help accelerate knowledge exchange and responsible adoption of emerging technologies.

MotusAcademy Foundation and Motus Foundation SD represent the impact-driven U.S. foundation platform focused on translating that global vision into practical implementation, access, and community impact. Operating from South Dakota, the Foundation supports programmes and partnerships designed to strengthen rehabilitation access, workforce capability, rural outreach, Veteran support, scholarships, and future-facing rehabilitation initiatives.

Together, MotusAcademy and MotusAcademy Foundation create a connected model that combines international expertise and collaboration with local implementation, community engagement, and mission-led impact. This structure allows the organisation to support both global ecosystem development and place-based initiatives that can create measurable benefits for clinicians, institutions, caregivers, patients, and underserved communities.

About Motus

MotusAcademy Foundation exists to help move rehabilitation technology beyond promise and into meaningful real-world impact. We bring together education, research, partnerships, and advocacy to expand access, strengthen capability, and support better outcomes for the people and communities who need rehabilitation most.

Our Mission, Vision, and Values

Shape how we advance equitable, high-quality rehabilitation through innovation, collaboration, and action.

Our Mission

MotusAcademy Foundation is building a more connected, more capable, and more equitable rehabilitation ecosystem. We work at the intersection of healthcare, science, technology, and community to accelerate the responsible adoption of rehabilitation methods and technologies that can improve lives. Our mission is not only to inform, but to enable action. We support the translation of knowledge into practice, the development of people and institutions, and the creation of platforms that help rehabilitation professionals, researchers, innovators, and partners work together more effectively.

Our Vision

We believe the future of rehabilitation must be more accessible, more interdisciplinary, and more impact-driven. Too often, promising knowledge remains siloed, technologies remain underused, and access remains uneven across geography, income, infrastructure, and workforce capacity. Our vision is a world in which high-quality rehabilitation knowledge, tools, and opportunity are no longer limited to a few centres of excellence, but can reach clinicians, communities, and patients across diverse settings. Through education, research, convening, and strategic initiatives, we aim to help shape that future.

Our Values

  • Access with purpose — We believe innovation matters only when it can be translated into meaningful access for real people in real settings.
  • Evidence with integrity — We value rigorous thinking, responsible interpretation, and practical relevance. We support work that advances both knowledge and application.
  • Collaboration across disciplines — Progress in rehabilitation depends on clinicians, engineers, researchers, policymakers, partners, and communities working together rather than in isolation.
  • Innovation with responsibility — We support forward-looking technologies and ideas, while recognising that trust, ethics, safety, and usability are essential to lasting impact.
  • Global perspective, local relevance — We believe the strongest solutions are internationally informed, but adaptable to local systems, cultures, needs, and constraints.

Motus Academy Co-Founders

MotusAcademy was founded by leaders who have helped shape the global field of rehabilitation technology through research, clinical translation, education, and ecosystem development. Together, they established MotusAcademy to broaden access to advanced rehabilitation technologies and to strengthen the bridge between innovation, evidence, and real-world impact.
